Modern Meadow Blocks

Joel Dewberry is definitely one of my new favorite designers.

Check out his Modern Meadow line:

Modern Meadow Fat Quarter Bundle in Pond

Modern Meadow Fat Quarter Bundle in Berry

Modern Meadow Fat Quarter Bundle in Sunglow

There is just something about this line...I love the flowers, structure of prints, I also feel like there is a southwestern desert vibe. Joel Dewberry also has a brand new line out, called Aviary 2, that you can check out here

During the month of March the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild gave us the challenge of making blocks with the pond line! Swoon! I had picked up a few fat quarters of this line too. So you defineitly haven't seen the last of this line!

I made three blocks to enter into the pool. Everyone made blocks and then for each block we made that was one entry into the raffle. It was so amazing to see what everyone made!

This is by far my favorite and I will probably make more of these types of blocks. This was my first time designing my own blocks and making them from scratch. It was hard to keep to the 10.5 size of the block. I had to shave off an inch to keep it the right. But if I were to do it again, I'd keep it a 12" square.

I love this off to the side block!

I had one more but the pic seems to have disappeared! Oh, well! Here is everyone's blocks all together:

Oh amazing are these! I was not the winner, but happy for the gals who won them! It will be interesting to see what they come up with!

April's Challenge:
Use these Robert Kaufman's Bright Solids to make a quilt!

I've been playing around with some ideas....here is my pinterest color mood board

I'll post more soon on my progress...I'm leaning toward the rainbow chevron stripes. What do you think?http://re.pn/b/8rD3

365 project: March 28 - April 3

Happy April!
This year is flying by! I have lots planned to post about this week, I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. As for right now, I'm off to bed!
Here are my pictures for the week:

My sewing space, busy planning out new blocks for the modern quilting guild (more on this later this week).

Flyers from the flower show that I don't want to lose or forget about! My new memory device: pictures!

Yes, another computer pic....it's pretty much all I've done this week!

Happy Spring!

Super cute story: one of my students surprised me at Paper Source (while I was working) and delivered this pink berry treat for me! She had called the store to find out when I was working...isn't that so cute for a 5th grader?! I'm pretty spoiled by my students...

Peet's wins the frothy foam oscar!

Weekend is over, sun has set, and life is good!

What's in the Bag?

Over the weekend, I was able to shop at Paper Source (after my shift). I'd been eying many of our new stamps, embossing powders, and craft letters. It was hard to not walk home empty handed! I thought I'd get a little creative and take some inspiration-board-like pictures! It might end up becoming a regular post! :) I had so much fun during this little photo shoot. :)
Here is what I came home with:

I love these soft, nature notecards by Rifle. I've raved about them before, here. One of my favorite things about Paper Source is how they buy from many small designers!

Birthday Cards

One of my favorite parts of birthdays is receiving many cards in the mail! It's fun to have cards from people rather than the usual bills!

The week before it was Teacher Appreciation Card Day at school, here are just a few of the cards I received:

I usually save most of my cards, but now I'm beginning to have such a big collection, I need to come up with a DIY project or find one! Do you have any ideas? Please share in the comment section below:

mid-century...so hot right now!

If you would have asked me a year ago, what mid-century furniture looked like, I wouldn't have had a clue. However, since I've been visiting design blogs, furniture stores, and mags, I've noticed this word popping up a lot. Chris is in the moving/flipping biz (he buys things for cheap on craigslist and then turns around and sells it for at least double), we have begun to seek out mid-century furniture from people who were like me a year ago!

Last week, Chris made an amazing find:

Mysteriously, he bought it in exchange for a pack of beer, the guy was thirsty and had no idea.
I tried to convince him for us to keep it and I could reupholster it, however, he wanted his instant cash! He had to be patient, but we were able to sell it for $200. That made for one happy C.

While I was searching for craft studios in my area, I found a great place called 3 Fish Studios created by a husband and wife duo, Annie & Eric. They sell affordable paintings and prints, many about and inspired by San Francisco. They also host classes Linocut Printmaking Classes on Saturdays. I can't wait to take one!

One of their lines features all Mid Century Furniture. Click on that link to see it!
