Seattle Trip

Last weekend, I headed up to Seattle with a bunch of my quilting buddies for a Modern Quilt Guild meet-up. I helped organize the Seattle, Vancouver BC, and Portland guilds to meet in Seattle for a shopping and charity quilting trip. We had an amazing time! I met so many great, talented, and creative people, along with some amazing fabric scores!

My great friend Petra and I traveled up to Seattle together and had a blast sharing a room together. We've now been on two trips together this summer (Sisters & Seattle), it will be so much fun to see what future trips we go on!

The weekend started with a gorgeous ferry ride to Vashon Island. Driving on to the ferry was quite surreal. I loved how you could get out and walk around freely. The wind in your hair is one of the best feelings. :)

Once we were on Vashon Island, we spent the day quilting for local charities. What happens when you put 50 quilters together for one day? Eight quilt tops are born! :) Also, currently PMQG has a special exhibit at Island Quilter. I was thrilled and honored to see my quilt in the front of the store hanging for all to see. :)

After Vashon, we went to a cute little fabric shop called West Seattle Fabric Company. Check it out, the owner, Monica is as sweet as can be!

Drygoods was my favorite fabric shop, small, but packed with amazing goodness!

*Michelle making tough decisions and Petra going bananas for fabric!*

Our final stop was a Seattle gal's vintage Japanese fabric collection. Patricia the owner describes it as her obsession. At first, I didn't think it would be my thing, however, there were a few fabrics that each of us couldn't live without! ;)

I'm a little nervous to show you my huge fabric haul...but it's all going to a few good projects! ;)

I'm so thankful for the Modern Quilt guild as it as really helped me grow as an artist and has given me a great community of friends!

If you want to check out more of our weekend, we made a flickr group of all of the photos. Click here to see more!

Quilting, Seattle and friends? Sounds like an AMAZING weekend! Have you heard of the Quilt Run on the Oregon coast? http://www.quiltrun101.com/ I accidentally got caught up in it one year because I happened to be driving from Astoria to Pacific City and stopping at quilt stores the same weekend it was happening. It looks like so much fun and I met some really awesome people who had gathered up groups of friends and were making a weekend out of traveling the coast and buying fabric. Fun! :)
